Dear Friends of Teen Rescue and the Julian Youth Academy ;
As you may already know, in October 2003 the Julian Youth Academy experienced the monumental loss of our entire facility due to the San Diego Cedar Fire. Every building was destroyed; all program materials and supplies were lost; and our staff and students lost all of their personal belongings. Since then we have been in an amazing struggle for the survival of a ministry that we believe God has called us to. Many of you have experienced firsthand or have seen the healing of lives and families through Teen Rescue and the Julian Youth Academy .
Our struggle to survive continues. We finally worked through the issues with San Diego County regarding how we can rebuild. It took some time to get here though. In March of 2004, we received written county permits and design approval by a 20-year veteran supervisor of the Planning and Land Use Department. With this "go-ahead" we were given permits for the septic system and the design of the building. After investing over $450,000 towards implementing these permits and building design, we were shocked to learn that San Diego County suddenly reversed their original decision, thus beginning a very long legal battle. This reversal (although finalized) has caused us a tremendous financial hardship.
We are please to announce that this distraction is over and we are moving forward with Phase One of our rebuilding campaign. Please take a moment and look through our website for artist renderings and blueprints of our rebuilding campaign.
Thank you for your help. We appreciate your continued support.
Sincerely,

Phil Ludwig, CEO
